Exchange link is one way to generate traffic. However it is now easy to exchange link with other sites if your own site does not have the required PR. How do you usually deal with this kind of situation?

In my case I offer a free service to compensate my lower PR. If not, I shell out some funds.

I pay for my link if it is reasonable. Else I would just move on and continue building my site traffic because that will lead my site later to gain a higher Page Rank.

Does it mean that it is a short cut to get high PR? I think if your site has a good content and interesting stuff then there is no need to spend money on this. I am afraid that it will be counted as Black Hat SEO someday.

Obviously we shall have to pay money for that. I think paid directories are another way to get traffic and PR. Even some people rely on directories only. Limits are beyond thinking in SEO, may be sky is a limit.

Just curious what Black Hat SEO is all about?? But anyway exchange link can be a good way to gain back links. There are those willing to make exchange links in various forums. And there are those forums which have this portion where you can advertise your site link.

Black Hat SEO is series of methods which people do for having high PR in a few times. I shall not recommend anyone to do so because someone involved in this will be banned forever by Google. Probably your domain will be banned forever.

It seems to be a scientific way of gaining a sustainable PR. If indeed Google is against this then it only shows that it is after the natural way on how a site PR should be developed. That is, the site gains a good PR because of its good content.
