Although these can be counted as backlinks but these are less important as compared to other backlinks. I have my signatures on many forums but these has not a visible effect. These links are not listed in webmaster tools as well.

These links to me are still important. Yahoo search engine counts these as back links. Also if properly displayed and catchy, they can invite site visitors.

Without any doubt they count. I think incoming links are more important then outgoing or these should be reciprocal. Anyhow I am satisfied with this method of advertisement and gaining a reasonable traffic.
